Same conversation. Different stage.
Visual Novel Mode and Phantom Chat replace the way the current conversation is presented while still using the real Clank conversation underneath.
Both interfaces are experimental. They are deliberately separated from Furina's everyday customization tools because they can replace the normal chat presentation instead of merely restyling it.
Both interfaces include a composer that sends through Clank's real composer flow rather than trying to reproduce Clank's network request independently.
Turn the chat into a story screen.
Visual Novel Mode reads the current conversation into narration and speaker beats, then presents those beats with portraits and VN-style dialogue staging.
“You heard that too, right?”
Built around beats instead of message cards.
Furina parses the conversation into a sequence the reader can move through. Narration and dialogue can be staged separately, and the interface can resume around the latest conversation state.
A real Furina conversation presented through the Visual Novel interface.
Who is talking?
Visual Novel Mode can associate speaker names with captured character portraits. Group scenes can maintain multiple speaker identities instead of treating the whole scene as one character.
Uses Emi's captured portrait when a beat is attributed to Emi.
If names, scene-member data or portraits cannot be resolved cleanly, Furina may fall back to shared scene artwork or a generic presentation.
A kinetic, comic-inspired alternate chat.
Phantom uses a more graphic, motion-heavy presentation with staged message history, a scene bar, visual identity treatment and its own composer.

They are not trying to solve the same problem.

Know what “experimental” means here.
Both interfaces read the current Clank page. Major upstream layout changes can affect detection.
Large conversations can require rebuilding or refreshing the interface's local representation.
Portrait and scene artwork availability depends on what Furina can resolve from the current character or scene.
The normal Clank conversation remains the source of truth. Close the alternate interface and verify there first.
They are presentation layers over the current conversation. Closing them returns you to the normal Clank view.
